A day for celebration! Today is both International Chocolate Day and National Celiac Awareness Day. First, the chocolate. It’s on my current list of “offending” foods. Seriously. I know, I know…how could the rich, dark deliciousness be an “offender”? Unfortunately, it contains flavonoids (as do coffee and tea), which block iron absorption, so chocolate (along with dairy, eggs, and several other yummies), made its way to the “offender” list. Too bad for me, but for you, I have a wonderful chocolate recipe to share. After all, you shouldn’t be deprived! And of course, it is gluten-free, so this will serve as a dual purpose recipe – to celebrate chocolate as well as Mr. Samuel Gee, the man credited with linking CD to diet. You can read more here on the Celiac Sprue Association’s website. Enjoy your gluten-free chocolate-filled day!
Thank you to Savoring the Thyme for including "Fruffles" (below) in a beautiful compilation of chocolate treats to celebrate the day!
