Yesterday was one of those days when everything just fell into place for me. I accomplished everything on my “to do” list, and even managed to check off a couple of “do if you have extra time” items, and all of this actually happened before sundown! Just when I was contemplating what a great day I was having and feeling fortunate that I did not have to go out and brave the severe thunderstorms churning above us, the proverbial cherry on my sundae arrived at my doorstep - a small (yet surprisingly heavy!) box from Moondance Heavenly Desserts. If you are not familiar with their products, you are just plain missing out! Based in Cincinnati, Ohio, owner Shelley Ritchie turned the misfortune of her wheat intolerance into magic when she created a line of decadent gluten-free desserts known as Moondance. Happy to review a product that is purported to “send you to the moon and back”, I couldn’t wait to tear open the treasure box that Shelley sent to me! With my faithful taste-testers by my side, we admired, opened, and sampled Fudge Brownies and Walnut Brownies from Moondance. So, how did they taste? Imagine a mouthful of rich chocolate silk – that was the first impression. These are without a doubt the best brownies I have ever tasted, (and I think that I make an exceptional brownie myself)! The superior quality of the chocolate as well as that of the other ingredients comes through with each bite into the light flaky thin top crust right down to the fudgy center beneath. Remember how I said the box was surprisingly heavy? I expected a dense brownie (which is not necessarily a bad thing); however, these brownies are substantial yet light all at the same time with a rich and creamy texture, and certainly indulgent enough to satisfy the most intense chocolate craving. Check out Moondance Heavenly Desserts on the web to read more about Shelley, the brownies, and the bakery’s other decadent offering…Cheesecake! Many thanks to Shelley and Moondance Heavenly Desserts for enough dessert to satisfy this family of chocolate lovers for several days! CommentsMargaruette Hastings Scheiner 04/16/2011 21:02
