The last couple of Sundays have been great fun! I've been out and about around the metro area sharing the gluten free love with some very special kiddos!

On May 22, I covered the Georgia Walk Now for Autism at the Georgia World Congress Center. It was a fabulous and educational day spent interacting with organizers and attendees at this fundraiser for autism awareness and research.

I was also touched personally...

As a parent of a child with Aspergers syndrome, you can imagine how touched I was to be in the midst of thousands of others living with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) was special. Everyone was sharing their experiences, knowing they had understanding and thoughtful listeners. If you had a question, you could find an answer. I certainly learned a lot, and best of all, made some great new friends!

You can read more about the event, its founders, and some of the folks I met by reading my article, Georgians In Step for Autism.

Last Sunday, May 29, I was on a different mission. A cupcake misson! I was happy to say "yes!" when asked to provide cupcakes for kids with Celiac Disease at Camp WeeKanEatIt.
This week-long camp for kids and teens is held at the beautiful Twin Lakes campsite in Winder, GA.

Sponsored by GA R.O.C.K (Raising Our Celiac Kids), Camp WeeKanEatIt is the only gluten free and allergen free camp experience for children in the state. They really do ROCK!

Gigi, all you do in the community is truly amazing! Glad that you were able to both give and receive so much back at these events. :-)

Shirley,

YOU are the one doing so much for others in your community!

I gained so much from these experiences...much, much more than I gave.

Awesome to be out & about talking about my passions! :)

xo,
Gigi

The Walk sounds fabulous. I have been on an Autism walk when we were in CA and it was such an amazing experience. We do not have a gluten and allergy free camp here in AZ, but there are quite a few in CA (where we spend a lot of time). So I am totally looking forward to the kids getting the opportunity to go to the one there. It sounds like you have had an amazing couple of weeks! ;)
