Eclectic, vibrant, and adventurous. That’s what author Sibel Hodge says our gluten free diet can be.
That’s why I broke my own rule of not reviewing gluten free cook books. (Let’s face it, most are a mere regurgitation of tired old recipes we find on the web that may or may not turn out as they should.)
Sibel offers excitement, something different…something new… in terms of gluten free cooking.
Like me, Sibel loves food and refuses to be held back by the so-called restrictions of a gluten free diet, especially when it comes to the traditional dishes of her native Turkey.
In this easily downloadable eCookBook, Sibel completely encapsulates Turkish cuisine; however, makes it friendly as our favorite comfort food, even for those who have never tried Hummus, Shish Kebab or fantastic Aubergine Bake.
That’s not all! In her book, Sibel provides more than recipes. She takes time to give us a bit of background for the dishes, how they are used and even serves up a taste of nutritional info on the side!
So far, I’ve made the three dishes mentioned above plus:
- Vegetable Frittata
- Beetroot Salad
- Green Olives with Garlic
- Baked Eggs
- Individual Corn Bread
- Vohito Cocktails (You must try the beverages included!!)
- Sweet and Spicy Salmon
From meat dishes to cocktails to breads and pastas with much in between, Sibel takes us on a culinary tour of Turkey and we never even leave the kitchen! It’s wonderful and I know you’ll love her book. (There are plenty of vegan and vegetarian recipes included if you’re not a meat eater!)
Because she’s such a dear, she’s offering two copies for me to give to two lucky readers in the format of the winners’ choice.
Our giveaway BEGINS TODAY (12.14.12) and ENDS MONDAY, DECEMBER 17 at MIDNIGHT EST.
TO ENTER the giveaway (this is a bit different than usual) LEAVE A COMMENT BELOW telling me what you’d like to see more of on GlutenFreeGigi.com in the future. (Please only leave one entry comment; repeat entries will not be counted.)
Two winners will be selected at random from all entries and announced in the Wednesday (12.19.12) edition of the “Daily Gluten Free Fix”.
Good luck to you!
Now, if you simply cannot wait (and I understand if you cannot…this is a fabulous book!), you may order a copy of “A Gluten Free Taste of Turkey on Amazon.
It’s so affordable, you may want a copy for yourself and another (or two!) to give as gifts!
(Please note: I receive no compensation from the sale of the books, I am simply offering the link to you for your convenience.)
On another note, I must tell you Sibel is an accomplished author of Romantic Comedy and Mystery Novels, too! If you’re looking for a great read from an outstanding lady, check out her website.
Now, before you leave to enter my fabulous giveaway, I promised a sneak peek at what is in store for January’s “Food Solutions” newsletter…
A Sneak Peek at January’s “Food Solutions” Newsletter!
You know me, there’s no “New Year, New You” business here. I like you just as you are! I don’t want a new you. I do; however, want to do all I can to help us maintain that healthy balance so necessary in our lives. That means inside and out.
To that end, I’m creating a wonderful collection of information for you to start the New Year off right!
In my acclaimed “A Side of Science” column, I’m giving you the facts about skin care, beauty products and toiletries when it comes to gluten free living. Should you use gluten free foundation, or just gluten free lipstick? Does shampoo matter, or is it lotion we should be most concerned about? I have the answers you need to make the best choices for your skin care and beauty regimen!
In-Season eating takes a colorful turn with a rainbow of winter fruits and veggies to heal our bodies from the inside! We’re not talking the same old “eat more steamed broccoli” mentality, either. I have exciting ways to approach winter produce that will keep you warm all season long!
And to care for the outside of our beautiful gluten free bodies, I have some of the best skin care products and makeups to introduce you to and it’s all gluten free! You may be surprised at what’s available to those of us who choose gluten free cosmetics and self-care items.
Not only will we look amazing, we’ll also feel amazing and confident in the New Year. That’s because we will relax into our healthiest weight…we each have a “happy place” when it comes to our size and this year, if you haven’t already, you WILL find yours!
I can help with my useful and practical tips for losing weight (or maintaining weight loss).
In January, after all the holiday festivities and a little free time, we all tend to get back to a more fixed schedule. That can also mean a more hurried lifestyle.
Eating healthy on the go is one of your top concerns according to the Love Letters I receive from you. To kick off 2013, we will focus on how to eat healthy gluten free foods we love when time is short.
Of course, there’s so much more…the all-new recipes, the extra tips and secrets I only share in “Food Solutions” and the super discounts for products you will want to try from top companies in the gluten free world!
I invite you to become part of my “Food Solutions” family by subscribing today. If you are genuinely serious about achieving optimal health on your gluten free diet while keeping it simple, affordable, nutritious and fun, there is not a more comprehensive resource than this!
I’ll see you here Monday – with one week before Christmas – with delightful foods for you to serve to your family. Enjoy your weekend, Honey Bunch!
xo,
Gigi ;)

Gigi, I would like to see recipes well suited to school lunchboxes. It is easy to get in a rut packing lunches everyday!
Hi Gigi. I would love to see recipes from different ethnicities. I never would have picked up or looked at a cookbook of Turkish if not for your postings. Thanks
Some of the science showing how long flour hangs in the air and why topical gluten is dangerous to us. Thanks!
Hi, Pauline.
GREAT question…look for answers soon!

I love your website and and the monthly “Food Solutions” . For the past week I have been busy unsubscribing from many of the new websites that seem to be growing like mushrooms. Your website is the only one I trust for information because of your extensive knowledge and research.
Please sign me up for the drawing for the new cookbook with Turkish recipes. It’s time for me to become a more adventurous cook.
Hi, Ann.
You are such a dear with your kind words!
I’m happy and honored to be your trusted source of gf information. I will continue to do my best to provide only the best, most factual and accurate information for you and everyone reading. It is my pleasure.
Thank you for your support of what I do. It is only through individuals like you that I am able to continue my work here.

Id love to see more about how to date someone not gf.. I am and he’s not so finding food that we both can have and enjoy is hard. Also anything more like the “kiss of death” information would be great because I never even thought about that! No more “try this” off my fork for him…
Hi, Kaitlyn.
Yes, great issue!!
Did you see this article about avoiding the “Kiss of Death” when you’re GF?? http://www.glutenfreegigi.com/your-questions-answered-avoid-conveyor-belt-contamination-the-kiss-of-death-and-more/
xo
Absolutely! I even considered giving my boyfriend a copy of the article some toothpaste and mouthwash as a gift! ^_^ Cant wait to hear more information about everything gluten free!

Congrats, Kaitlyn!!! You won a copy of the cookbook!
I’ll email you soon for details. :)
xo
^_^ Yay!!!! I can’t wait! thanks soo much!!
I would love to see more Italian recipes. I am GF and my family is not. I would love to make my usual family meals GF and have my family think they are non-GF recipes. Sneaky I know but it would be so much easier to make one meal for all of us and not have to cook twice!
Hi, Susan.
Great request!
Have you tried my GF Pasta yet?? My family prefers it to the “real deal” you find in authentic Italian restaurants.
xo
I’d love to see gluten free recipes that are lower in added starches! Thanks for the giveaway! :)
Hi, April.
What are you specifically trying to avoid in terms of starch?
You’re so welcome!!
xo
I always thought gluten free was just what you eat. Little did I know that gluten is in just about everything. So, next month when you cover skin care and products that are safe for us, this is what I have been waiting for. This is my question that I am dying to know. Tell us Gigi what we can do to keep ourself healthy inside and out.
We love you for all that you do to help us.
Phyllis,
You are just going to love what I have for Jan. “Food Solutions”!!!
It’s definitely a winning issue!
We’ll cover inside/out beauty in the New Year like never before!
Thank you for the love…I appreciate you so much!
xo
I’m sooooo glad you enjoyed the cookbook, Gigi! I wanted to include healthy, easy-to-cook recipes that needed no special equipment or ingredients but also tasted delicious!
2 lucky winners can be cooking a different kind of Turkey, this year! ;)
