Who says we can’t enjoy the classic combo of peanut butter and jelly on our allergen-free diet?

And we can even do it healthier than the traditional way!

Whip up this super-quick nutritious shake for a sweet protein punch for breakfast on the go or a cool afternoon snack.

Oh, and you can leave the jelly in the fridge for this one…we’re jammin’ with REAL FRUIT instead. ;)

This recipe is free from: gluten, dairy/casein, soy, peanuts, tree nuts, corn and egg.
  • ½ cup milk (any dairy-free milk will work; if you eat dairy products, use your choice of “regular” milk if you prefer)
  • 2 Tablespoons sunflower seed butter (substitute your choice of nut or seed butter, depending upon your specific allergies)
  • ½ – 1 Tablespoon honey (or other liquid sugar like agave nectar or pure maple syrup; you may omit this if you prefer)
  • ¼ teaspoon pure vanilla extract (omit if you use a vanilla flavored milk)
  • 6 ice cubes
  • ½ cup frozen blueberries (or strawberries, if you prefer)
  1. Combine milk, sunflower seed butter, honey, vanilla and ice cubes in your blender.
  2. Blend until smooth.
  3. Pour approximately ⅔ of the mixture into a tall chilled glass.
  4. To the remaining mixture in the blender, add the frozen berries.
  5. Process until smooth.
  6. Slowly pour the blueberry mixture on top of the sunflower seed mixture in the glass.
  7. Serve immediately.
  8. This makes 1 large milk shake; alternatively, divide the mixture between 2 smaller glasses for 2 servings.
