Use your own pesto recipe, one from a jar or make my Nut-Free Basil Pesto, which is what I prefer. You can find the Strawberry Puree recipe here, and it is well worth making because in addition to taking this simple summertime salad over the top, it has dozens of other uses (like freezing into ice cubes to add to your favorite summer cocktails) that you’ll find here.
Tomato Watermelon Salad with Pesto & Strawberry Sauce
- Toss watermelon and tomato with salt in a large bowl.
- Stir pesto into strawberry puree, then add to watermelon/tomatoes; gently toss.
- Chill and serve with basil leaves for garnish.
